Longstanding VR systems have needed wires and computers to run their headsets, but in recent years that has all changed. A few companies have actually found a way to create standalone VR headsets that don’t need a PC. The next wireless VR headset that doesn’t need a PC is the Infamous Oculus Quest. Currently, this is the most popular VR Headset on the market right now, outselling the most expensive VR headsets. What makes this different than the rest? Well because it’s the first really powerful stand-alone VR system that does not need a PC to power it. Instead of only a 3-degree motion detection, the headset comes with positional tracking that captures your entire body movement. This makes for a fully immersive experience.

As stated before, the Oculus Quest has a more powerful processor and higher dynamic graphics than its little brother the Oculus Go. This alone makes it easy to stand toe to toe with higher-end VR systems. Where the Quest lacks is the number of games it currently offers its customers. Oculus does not have a vast library of games yet, but game quantity has grown significantly in the last year, making it likely to see many more games being created by 2022.

The next VR that doesn’t need a PC is Oculus’s newest VR headset, the Oculus Quest 2. This is Oculus 2nd generation standalone headset. It comes with a faster processor and a better tracking system for more
immersive interactions. The Quest 2 is also equipped with a 1832×1920 per eye screen resolution and up to 50% pixel increase from the Original Quest. This gives the Quest 2 an outstanding screen Quality and an immersive-out of this world experience

The Quest 2 also supports backward compatibility giving you access to second and first-generation Quest games. You can also access older Oculus rift S games through PC by using the Oculus link cable. At this current time the Quest 2 is best standalone VR headset on the market.

The next VR headset that doesn’t need a PC is the Lenovo Mirage. This headset was released in February 2018 and was the first VR standalone headset that came with Six degrees of movement that would do away with needing room trackers. The headset enabled you to move naturally in a virtual world for the first time. With its lightweight frame and comfortable headgear, This headset was particularly built for comfort and was made so that you forget you were wearing a headset. The engine running this headset is pretty awesome too, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 VR platform & 4GB of ram, you can easily run high-resolution games. The last VR headset on the list is the focus Vive. This particular headset was originally available in China until early 2020 when the U.S. finally got its hands on it. The HTC VIVE focus comes with Six-degree high-resolution Snapdragon 835 processing.
