Bloatware

Bloatware is one of the most common reasons why new laptops run slow. It’s basically start up software/ firmware that’s on your computer. Often times this software is unnecessary and can cause your new computer to slow down, and waste your battery.

Why do companies include bloatware?

Typically bloatware is added to laptops because of functionality and branding. Many laptop companies want their computers to be plug and play and ready to go. So they add a bunch of firmware to help users navigate and use their new computers effectively. The only problem is these software’s are not always helpful and will slow your computer down, especially when its starting up.

How do I delete bloatware from my computer?

Most bloatware can be easily deleted on your laptop by simply deleting each programs under add/remove programs in control panel. Now unfortunately you will not be able to delete every bloatware app because It’s built that way. Another way to get red of Bloatware is to use the power shell command line. Basically power shell is a windows command that let’s you easily run commands on your computer. One of these commands is deleting and moving bloatware. If you’re use to using the power shell command line, then here are a few commands that can help you get it done.

Firmware updates

This is going to be another reason why your new laptop maybe running slow. When you purchase a new laptop most if not all will need a firmware update. This firmware updates can take a lot of time and slow your computer down considerably. So beware of this after purchasing your computer and give it time to update and process files.

If your computer is slower after an update, then you can revert the update back to original state or try to fix corrupted files. Typically updates are used to help a computer run more efficiently and to protect it, but sometimes the and update can have adverse effects and cause a slow down in your computer’s speed.

You Downloaded Malware or a Virus

This is another reason why your laptop could be running slow. Believe it or

not, you can unwillingly download malware or a virus the first day You bring your laptop home. A virus can consider bly slow your computer down, so make sure to be careful not to download anything that seems fishy. If you happen to download a program with malware, your next steps should be to run a virus or malware scanner and delete the culprit.

Hardware or Software Malfunction

Unfortunately you may have purchased a bad laptop. Either the hardware is bad or the software is corrupt in some way. In this situation a process of elimination is warranted. If your new laptop is slow and you have exhausted all efforts to speed it up, then the next step you should take is to reset your laptop to factory default and see if it fixes any corrupt software.

If your laptop is still running slow after a factory reset then this could be a hardware issue. In this situation just take your laptop back to the store for a replacement.
