What is a TV Burn-in?How to Prevent TV a Burn-inCan OLED Screen Burn-in Be FixedIs OLED TV covered Under warranty?

Generally, OLED TV burn-ins are not covered by the manufacturer’s Warranty. However, some stores/companies may offer an extended warranty that covers burn-ins.

What is a TV Burn-in?

A TV burn-in is basically what it sounds like, an image that burns into the display of a TV. TV burn-ns are no new concept. Many plasma TVs suffered from Burn-ins from initial release to end-of-life.

Nowadays, burn-ins are less frequent since most TV use LCD, LED, and Qled technology. These displays are not prone to burn-in. But let’s take a look at the Oled display technology. The old TV display consists of tony organic self-light

that lights up the screen individually. This type of chemistry can easily be affected by picture burn-ins.

If you use your TV as a computer monitor or store display, it will be more subject to burn-ns, especially if a logo stays static on the screen.

How to Prevent TV a Burn-in

How to fix a TV burn in

Many Oled TV’s nowadays come with burn-in prevention firmware built inside. This

firmware basically changes the lighting condition of certain images to reduce burn-ins from happening. But you can do your part as well. The easiest way to prevent burn-ins is to change the program

you are watching. Some programs are more subject to burn-ins, especially the ones that have a static Logo associated with them. We would recommend mixing up the time you are watching these programs. For example, if you watch CNN for more than a few hours, it’s good practice to change the channel and watch something different for a while.

Also, if you like to use your TV as a night light when sleeping, we recommend not leaving it on a news program or a channel that maintains its logo on the screen. A few more prevention tips to remember are as follows:

  1. Don’t leave your TV paused for too long. Remember, burn-ins occur when there is a constant static image on the screen, so pausing a live or recorded show for a significant amount of time can lead to burn-ins.

2. Use screensavers more often- If you plan on using your TV as a computer monitor, then having a static screen may be unavoidable. If this is the case, try to incorporate a screen saver to balance the screen color. This should help with screen stagnation, thus reducing burn-ins.

3. Reduce brightness – This is the easiest fix, by reducing your TV’s Reduce brightness – This is the easiest fix; reducing your TV’s brightness will help with TV burn-ins. Essentially, the OVED’s TV burn-in prevention firmware is doing this on a small scale, but it doesn’t hurt to help out. If you have a darker room, reducing your brightness to about 45-50 range could help reduce the TV’s pixel stress. This helps prevent burn-ins and prolong the life of the TV.

4. Image Shifting Feature- On Some TVs you will have the option to use a feature called image shifting . This will prevent images from staying still for too long and will promote movement throughout your screen.

Can OLED Screen Burn-in Be Fixed

The chances of getting TV burn-ins are pretty rare nowadays. Oled TV technology has drastically improved since its initial release, but many owners still experience burn-ins. If you notice burn-ins on your TV, don’t worry; generally, 0led burn-ins are easy to fix. Here are a few fixes that will help assist you:

  • Play a DVD movie on repeat for about three days to clean any burn ins. This will give your TV another picture/ image to put in its place and overtime will help clear up the burn-in. ( Please note, this was a fix for plasma TVs and may not work with OLED.)
  • Unfortunately there’s not much you can do with an OLED burn-in. This is why its vital to use preventative measures so that you don’t find yourself it this type of situation. If your TV has some burn-in, you can try lower the brightness to reduce the burned-in image or dish out the cash and purchase a new TV.

Is OLED TV covered Under warranty?

As stated briefly earlier, since burn-ins are somewhat unavoidable, many TV manufacturers do not offer a burn-on Warranty. Generally, Oled TV warranties are good for five years and consist of the following:

LG: 5-year standard Warranty: 8822, 1762, and 5562

1st year. All panels, parts, “labor are covered 2nd-5th year- All panels only; labor will be charged
